Marriage

Marriage

God created man and woman out of love and commanded them to imitate his love in their relations with each other. Man and woman were created for each other…Woman and man are equal in human dignity, and in marriage both are united in an unbreakable bond. (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, Ch. 21, p. 279)

The sacrament of marriage is a visible sign of God’s love for the Church. When a man and a woman are married in the Church, they receive the grace needed for a lifelong bond of unity.

Planning Your Wedding

Couples desiring to enter into the Sacrament of Matrimony should contact the parish at least 6 month prior to their expected wedding date. A Priest or Deacon will help the couple with marriage preparation and wedding planning. He will verify your freedom to be married, your understanding of fidelity to God and one another, and your promise to raise children in the Catholic religion. He will also explore with you any obstacles to the Sacrament of Matrimony, such as having been married before.

If you have any questions, reach out to our wedding coordinator, William Rein at 585-288-500 or [email protected]
