Funerals

Funeral Planning

"At the death of a Christian, whose life of faith was begun in the waters of Baptism and strengthened at the Eucharistic table, the Church intercedes on behalf of the deceased because of its confident belief that death is not the end, nor does it break the bonds forged in life. The Church also ministers to the sorrowing and consoles them in the funeral rites with the comforting Word of God and the Sacrament of the Eucharist." – Order of Christian Funerals, no. 4

Funeral Planning Resources

Once you reach out to us about planning a funeral (either directly or through your funeral home) our funeral coordinator, Emily Kwiatkowski, will reach out to set up a time to meet and plan the funeral. Before attending the meeting, we ask that you review our Funeral Planning Guide (linked here).
  • You are able to choose one Old Testament (pages 6 – 11) reading and one New Testament reading (pages 12 -23). You may have up to three readers, one for the Old Testament Reading, one for the new, and one for the Prayer of the Faithful (page 24).
  • One of the prayers of the faithful, which are listed on page 24, has a spot to include the names of any other relatives or friends who have passed away, if you would like to include them in the prayers, you can just let me know their names.
  • You may have up to two people bring up the gifts if you would like.
  • You may choose a Processional (1), recessional (1), preparation (1), Communion and Meditation Hymn (1-2), along with a Psalm (1)– those are all outlined on pages 26 and 27.
  • You’re welcome to have someone give a eulogy.  The eulogy is given at the beginning of Mass, just before the 1st reading, and is limited to one person for a total of 3-5 minutes.
