YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

In My Own Words
“Hello, I am Janine Costello and have been a member of Peace of Christ Parish all my life. I currently participate in the youth group and play on the CYO high school girl's basketball team. Being a part of the youth group here has not only strengthened my faith but also created fun memories and amazing friendships. I think of youth group as a refreshing way to start each week. I love being a part of Peace of Christ and playing a role in youth ministry.

In My Own Words
Hi! My name is Grace Neylan. I have been a member of Peace of Christ for many years now, and enjoy the many different groups offered here that I have joined. I have been a part of CYO Basketball since 3 rd grade, and love to play with my friends that I have known for many years. I have gone and helped at Vacation Bible School every summer since I was young and I have also been a part of our parish youth group, in which I have gotten the chance to go on trips such as NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference), and even camping out to raise awareness of homelessness in Rochester. Peace of Christ has been a major part of my life, and I love being a part of it.”

Renewing the Vision

Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Rochester embraces a comprehensive and multifaceted approach that utilizes the gifts of the entire faith community to minister to, with, by and for young people in grades 6-12. Our goals reflect those outlined by the U.S. Bishops in the 1997 document, Renewing the Vision:

  • To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world today.
  • To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
  • To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
