Family Faith Formation

Welcome to the Peace of Christ Family Faith Program!

“A comprehensive parish-based catechesis harmonizes the catechesis of adults, families, parents, youth, children in the parish catechetical program and Catholic school, children in the parish catechumenate, and small Christian communities” (National Directory for Catechesis, 61).

At Peace of Christ Parish, we offer a variety of Christian formation and spiritual growth opportunities for people of all ages. View our faith formation brochure at this link. This page describes our Family Faith Program, which is designed for busy families whose children are currently attending public schools in grades PreK-5. The Diocese of Rochester requires children to attend 30 hours of catechesis yearly.

A Report on Catholic Religious Parenting: How exactly is the Catholic household positioned relative to mainstream American culture, and consequently, what is the job description of the contemporary American Catholic parent? What can parents do to optimize their chances of replicating their faith in their children, and how can clergy and pastoral professionals assist them so that we can stop youth from drifting from their faith as they pass into adulthood. Find answers to these questions and more by reading : "A Report on Catholic Religious Parenting," a 3-year report on parental attitudes towards religious transmission, produced by sociologists Justin Bartkus and Christian Smith, for the McGrath Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame. Gain real insights into the four key components that produce and shape the religious household today.
