Note from Sr. Janet Korn

Peace of Christ parishioners have kindly invited me to join you in a conversation about immigration the weekend of February 11 & 12.

We all know that there are as many opinions and feelings about this topic as there are US citizens. That fact alone should provide us with a rich opportunity for a good conversation.

As a springboard for our dialogue we'll look at the film, ‘The Eight Hundred Mile Wall'. This film shows us one way in which the US Government has chosen to attempt to limit the number of undocumented immigrants.

Each of us brings our own lived experience and knowledge to the issue of immigration. So, during this week ask yourself these questions…Why do I think and feel the way I do about immigrants and immigration? What influences the way I think?

I know that my past experience of living and working in South America and my recent visit to Kenya, along with developing temporary housing for migrant farmworkers have influenced me about the way I think and feel. I will be interested to hear about the influencing experiences in your life.

Looking forward to being with you on the weekend of Feb. 11-12.
